[Lifestyle] You are not your job!

You are not your job. This might be a harsh reality for some of you, but a lot of people need to accept that as the truth.

When you're meeting someone for the first time, how do you describe yourself? Do you talk about your hobbies, places you like to go, sleeping habits, favourite comfort foods, or do you say "I'm a developer at..." or "I work at..."?

When I think about that, I often catch myself talking about my job as something I am, or with pride, and I'm definitely looking forward to changing this. I was reflecting on this topic over the last few days, and I noticed how, these days, people who work with technology tend to only talk about their position, their accomplishments, projects, achievements, or even complain about their companies, salaries, or even their coworkers when you're at a party, a bar, or even at a dining table with close friends who aren't related to their company.

This shows how bad we are at this. People are forgetting how to start other topics, how to talk about movies, music, games, or even hobbies with friends, just to talk about the things that their companies want, like "how amazing the latest AI model is in the newest update" or "how your place uses this kind of structure in the database?". Come on guys, we're on holiday, you shouldn't be caring that much about that text you read in that newsletter that you received and wanted to share on the Slack of your company. If this really needs to be done, write it down on a notepad and send it when you get back in two or three weeks. Get yourself AWAY from your company at the first chance you have because you might not have noticed it, but when you get to this point where you can't talk about anything besides work, you are probably 1 or 2 steps away from a burnout, or a promotion, but is it worth it?
