[Technology] The more it evolves, the worse it gets

This year I decided that I would finally waste some money and update my gaming laptop.

All my life I used to think that updates should come for the best. I'm not talking about merely software updates. Recently I decided to upgrade my old gaming laptop that used to work well, stable and definitely fine to a newer one, more powerful and rather expensive.

Yes, a gaming laptop. I don't like to have a huge device at my desk and I truly think that the tradeoff with less power in favor of mobility is good for me. That's my opinion and that's the bottom line.

But yeah, since I've got this newer laptop my life has been a fucking nightmare. Its system is erratic as fuck and I had to reinstall the OS (Win 11) multiple times just to make it fucking work properly. I got in touch with the manufacturer to see if they could help more than 5 or 6 times and even sent it back to the factory, but nothing changed. And even though my warranty was valid, they could only help me with spare hardware parts, nothing related to software, which is my main issue.

So yeah, I definitely regret my decision of keeping a gaming laptop, since for the last 2/3 months my "main game" has been mostly "Laptop Fix Simulator". I also have a few videogame consoles, so I'm constantly asking myself what the actual fuck I was thinking when I decided this shit.

Something that I always enjoyed was how easy playing a video game console always was. You turn it on, you put in a CD or cartridge or just select a game from the menu, and voilà, the game is fucking playing. No need to mess with graphics, update drivers, check if the bluetooth controller is properly working, or even if the game layout matches the controller you're using. This shit's definitely not for me.

Somehow I think I managed to fix most of the software issues that this fucking piece of crap of 1k USD threw at me, but I still don't trust it, since out of nowhere everything could just fuck up once again. So yeah, my takeaway for my future self is to abandon this PC gaming life and focus on consoles (if they still exist in the future) or just focus on some more stable shit like the recently announced Steam Machine that might be a light at the end of the tunnel for people like me that hate all the burden that comes with PC gaming that prevents this shit from being "plug and play".

PS: Alienware sucks. I'm never giving money to anything Dell related anymore.
