[Gaming] I finally manage to achieve my personal gaming goal for 2025

As I already mentioned in another post here, I really enjoy fighting games and I've been plaaying a lot of them for a long time now. I never considered myself as a amazing player or even a competitive one since I truly suck into the "motion" part of doing the specials, like doing the semicircle and that kind of famous stuff. So I always played with friends that also didn't knew how to perform most of the attacks and we always enjoyed the "newbie fights".

Like 2 years ago I got SF6 at the first day and started playing like on the first week. I didn't read much aabout the controls and went directly to the "classic". As alwaays, my knowledge wasn't enough and I lost a lot due to execution part. I got frustrated and after 10 hours, I gave up and said "ok this isn't for me anymore, I won't have time to leaarn these comands and I've been pwnd...".

Like 2 years ago I got SF6 on the first day and started playing like on the first week. I didn't read much about the controls and went directly to the "classic". As always, my knowledge wasn't enough and I lost a lot due to the execution part. I got frustrated and after 10 hours, I gave up and said "ok this isn't for me anymore, I won't have time to learn these commands and I've been pwnd...".

After some time, I started playing Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, which is an "anime fighter" based on the gacha game with the same name and I instantly fell in love with the game because the style and artwork were amazing but also because it had EASY TO LEARN CONTROLS, that made everything accessible! It was a pure joy, and I decided to invest some time into the game and after clocking around 200 hours over 2 years and getting to S+ ranking with multiple characters I also invested some extra time to understand most of the hidden mechanics and get to know more about the FGC in general.

Since I decided that, my life's been hell. I've been watching Street Fighter League, multiple matches from MenaRD, Diaphone, Punk, Blaz, also invested time (and money) into the new Fatal Fury, which is an AMAZING GAME and FINALLY everything came into a full circle.

Around June 10 or 15 I decided to go back to SF6, but with a different approach. Since I wasn't down to learn how to perform most actions and I was so used to the way of playing GBVSR, I noticed that I could get almost the same approach playing SF6 with modern controls. For me modern controls change the game from execution to a more strategic thing. I'm definitely not that type of "spamming fireball ryu/ken", this sucks. I'm really trying hard to master my neutral and propose something when I'm playing so yeah, I would say that my playstyle is far too aggressive for someone with lack of skills lol.

With that set, I started my challenge of getting past the "silver/low gold" ranking and prove to myself that I could improve. I also bought the game on my Switch so I planned to compare the same results that I had at my first interaction with SF6 on my PC with the second one.

Making this challenge for me was one of the best things of 2025 and I really enjoyed learning more not just about SF6 but learning more about a genre that I always enjoyed but never paid that much attention to what was there all that time! I can easily say that this gaming challenge was one of the hardest I ever made and also one of the ones I enjoyed most, not gonna lie. The feeling that you're improving is amazing and seeing your rankings going up and hitting a 10+ win streak is totally a blast.

Well, after 70 hours of playing a lot of SF6 and trying multiple characters like Mai, Chun-Li, Cammy, Ryu, Ken, Luke, Viper and Juri, I finally managed to hit Diamond 2, which was really far from what I was expecting! Like I really know what I'm doing and what I need to do in order to win, but I'm definitely not good and I know that, so being able to achieve Diamond 2, for me is a huge achievement!

So yeah, I'll try to keep improving for sure, but just to be able to exceed my expectations and go further is already the most valuable thing here. This is a friendly reminder for me and also you to ALWAYS keep fighting and improving until you reach your goal, challenge or whatever you're aiming for.

Hadouken!
